Announcements


This coming Friday is a COMP Day for Bollman. There will be no classes for BTEC Students.

Students cannot park in the staff lots until after 2:00 pm and that is ONLY if you have an after school activity.

Nominate royalty for Prom during lunches (periods 4-7) starting Monday, March 20th thru Friday, March 24th in the main lobby.  You may also go to the Horizon homepage and nominate royalty there!!

Prom tickets go on sale Monday, April 3rd during lunches (periods 4-7) on the stage in the Student Center.  Tickets are $40 each!  You MUST have your student ID and 95% attendance to purchase a ticket.  In addition, If you're bringing a guest from another school, you must have your signed and completed guest pass form from the Dean's to get your guest's ticket.  Your guest, if they are a Horizon student, must also have a 95% attendance as of the beginning of 2nd quarter. Please check the list in the hallway across from the Dean’s Office. See Mrs. Sweet for guest pass forms.

Students:  If you have lost items throughout the year, check the lost and found on the stage in the center.  If you have lost jewelry, wallet, phone etc. check with Mrs. Sweet in the Dean’s Office.

Ping Pong for the Heart! NHS is hosting a ping pong tournament on Wednesday, March 22 from 1-3. Registration begins March ends March 17th. There will be tables in the lobby on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during 2-8 period. Registration is also online through the Horizon homepage. Support the American Heart Association by participating in a fun ping pong tournament with friends!

Looking for a summer job?  The City of Thornton is looking to hire high school age students for seasonal jobs for the summer.  These jobs range from lifeguards, boat attendants, summer camp help, etc.  If you are interested go to the city website at cityofthornton.net/jobs to apply.  You can get more information by seeing Officer “Q” or pick up a flyer in the Main Office.

Sports, Drama, & Clubs

Make sure to stop by the student center on Friday for St. Patrick's Day to buy a carnation for a friend to wish them luck! French National Honors Society will be selling green carnations tomorrow in the student center.

DECA will be selling chocolate dipped fortune cookies in celebration of St. Patrick's day on Friday in the main lobby for $2 each.

DECA is selling Horizon Apparel!  There are short sleeve cotton shirts for $10, short sleeve dri-fit shirts for $15, long sleeve dri-fit shirts for $20 and Horizon hoodies for $25 You can look for order forms on our posters around the school or purchase in the DECA room E0506.  Stop by and pick something up to show your school spirit before they run out.

Senior News

Seniors:  Please report any & all scholarship offers to Ms. Jones in the Main Office.  Those you choose to accept and those you do not choose to accept.

Hey Seniors – It’s time to start clearing your fines so you can walk the line. The senior fine list is now posted next to the bookkeeping office.  Please check often as new fines will be posted daily. All fines and fees must be cleared by May 1st in order to pick up your cap and gown and participate in the graduation ceremony. 

Cap & gown pictures can still be ordered at www.studio5portraits.com Use the password HorizonHS2017Grad.  At checkout for teacher name use Tami Jones.

If you did not pick up your ordered announcements or mug and you have a zero balance, you can now pick them up at the bookkeeping office. If you still owe on your announcements or mug you can make final payments at payments.jostens.com or call 1-800-567-8367.

Ultimate Frisbee Club now meets on Fridays! Never played? No problem! We'll teach you! Meet in the courtyard after school on Fridays, then we move to Northbrook Park behind the parking lot at 3:10. It's fun, it's fast, it's Ultimate Frisbee!  --Steve Windness
