PICTURES ARE IN. PLEASE PICK THEM UP IN THE MAIN OFFICE.  RETAKES ARE NEXT THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13TH.  STUDENTS MUST HAVE ORIGINAL PICTURE PACKET WITH THEM IN ORDER TO GET RETAKES.  STUDENTS CAN  ALSO HAVE PICTURES TAKEN AT THAT TIME FOR PURCHASE.

Would you like a chance to support a noble cause?  Do you feel passionately about cancer research?  Horizon DECA is fundraising for Breast Cancer Research.  1 in 7 Coloradan Woman will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in her lifetime.  Horizon DECA is selling T-shirts to support Cancer Research.  Come to the lobby during periods 4, 5, and 6 and buy a t-shirt for $10.  Wear your pink shirt every Wednesday to show your Support.

Horizon Students & Parents: Here is a golden opportunity to help the Music & Theatre Department raise some money and enjoy some delicious food.   From 5:00 pm – Close, Monday, October 17th, Old Chicago at 120th & Colorado, will donate a portion of the cost of your food to the Music & Theatre Department.  So mark your calendars today and come support this important program!!

Horizon FBLA will be hosting our annual blood drive on Tuesday, October 11. You can save up to 3 lives by donating one time! You must be at least 16 to donate. See Mr. Wilke in E0505 for more information and permission forms.

Counseling

Students!  October is College Month!  Help us celebrate by following the counseling office on twitter @HHS_Counseling1 and using #HHSgoestocollege!  Remember seniors FAFSA is currently open and it is time to get those college applications submitted! 

Attention Seniors: The Daniels Fund Scholarship application is now open!
The deadline is November 30thThis scholarship pays for 100% of your college expenses; however, families must first show economic need before the application process can begin and all applicants must complete the 2017/18 FAFSA prior to applying.  For more information, go to the Daniels Fund website at www.DanielsFund.org.  Please inform Mrs. Neumann if you are applying for the Daniels Fund scholarship.

Attention Sophomores & Juniors:  TAKE THE PSAT/NMSQT
On Wednesday, October 19th, Horizon High School will offer the PSAT/NMSQT exam to students. You can sign up to take the test in the Counseling Office.  
TO SIGN UP, YOU MUST BRING EITHER CASH OR CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $25 TO THE COUNSELING OFFICE.  YOU WILL NOT BE SIGNED UP WITHOUT PAYMENT.  (We have limited spaces for the exam, spots will only be available for the first 200 students who sign up.)  The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, October 12th.  The test cost is $25. 
The test will be given at the Adams 12 Educational Support Center (ESC). *Transportation will not be provided.  When:  by 7:05 a.m. 
Where:  ESC Training Center – Lobby, What to bring:  #2 Pencils, STUDENT ID and a calculator.  You should be done around
The PSAT/NMSQT is the only way juniors can qualify to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program. 
**Taking the PSAT/NMSQT is an excellent opportunity for sophomores to practice for the spring PSAT test and for Juniors to prepare for the spring SAT test.

Sports, Drama, & Clubs

Congratulations to Parker Kretzler & Jett Lopez on making it to the State Tennis Tournament.  Good luck boys!!

Attention students interested in playing Ice Hockey.  There will a parent meeting at Standley Lake High School on Monday, October 24th.  The meeting will begin at 6pm in the Auditorium.  Come meet the coach and learn more about the upcoming season!  Ice Hockey tryouts are scheduled for Monday, November 14th & Thursday, November 17th, at 4:15pm at the Promenade Ice Center.
