Announcements: Wednesday 9-23-2015

Pictures ordered at the beginning of the year can be picked up in the Main Office.

Picture retakes are on October 2nd.   In order to have retakes you must return the pictures that you ordered at the beginning of the year to the photographers.

Seniors, we are starting to collect photos for the Senior Slide Show. Please send your school appropriate photos from Senior Sunrise, powder puff, homecoming week, homecoming game, homecoming dance, and any other senior photo events to Mrs. Haefner through October 1. Photos must contain mostly or all senior class members.

Horizon FBLA will be hosting our annual blood drive on Friday, November 6 in the auditorium lobby. There is a schedule of appointments in E0505 to fill with 54 staff and student donors. If you have never given blood, please consider donating. Every pint donation has the potential to save up to 3 lives!
If you are under 18, parent permission is required. Parent permission forms can be picked up in E0505. See Mr. Wilke with any questions.

If you did not get a professional portrait taken during registration, please make sure you go to retakes in order to get your photo in the yearbook! The temporary photos Mrs. Cummings takes do not appear in the yearbook.

The HAWK School Store is now open! Come get school supplies, earbuds and gum at low prices! The store is open 8th hour every day in the Main Lobby.

Sept. 21-25, Adams 12 is focusing on getting young people registered to vote. A registration table will be in the lobby each day during 6th hour, and from 12:30-1:00 on Wednesday. Students 16 and 17 can pre-register, while those who are 18 can officially register.
Counseling

Seniors:  The Daniels Fund Scholarship deadline is November 13thThis scholarship pays for 100% of your college expenses; however, families must first show economic need before the application process can begin. For more information, see Mrs. Neumann in the Counseling Office or go to the Daniels Fund website at www.DanielsFund.org and take the eligibility questionnaire.

Attention Juniors: 
On Wednesday, October 28, Horizon High School will offer the PSAT/NMSQT exam to students.  You can sign up to take the test in the Counseling Office.  TO SIGN UP, YOU MUST BRING EITHER CASH OR CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $25 TO MRS. NEUMANN (in the Counseling Office).  YOU WILL NOT BE SIGNED UP WITHOUT PAYMENT.  The deadline to sign up isTuesday, October 13th.  The test cost is $25.  The test will be given at the Adams 12 Educational Support Center (ESC).  *Transportation will not be provided.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the ONLY way juniors can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Attention 9th through 12th grades!  Experience 9 to 5 is back and better than ever!  Stop by the counseling office and pick up a catalog to see all of the amazing businesses that are participating and offering students the opportunity to test-drive a career!  Cost is $10 per session and you must register by October 1, 2015. Sessions begin October 14, 2015.  Space is limited!!!!

SportsDrama & Clubs

Join us Thursday, September 24 and Friday September 25, at 7pm for the first production of the year.  "Months On End" is a charming, funny, show that spans twelve months of the lives of 10 people. For more information contact Mrs. Wallis or Mrs. Morris.

Attention Community Service Club: We will be going to Lifeline Puppy Rescue this Sunday, the 27th, to assist with their Adoption Event. We will meet at Horizon at the flagpole at 9:30 to carpool and return between 2:30-3:00 pm. See Ms. Peratt in room 02513 if you have questions.
