We all wish you the very best throughout the testing process.

Horizon High School has once again implemented an attendance policy for students, grades 9-12 to be able to attend prom.  However, 9th & 10th grade students MUST be invited by an upperclassman in order to attend prom.  All Students wishing to attend prom are expected to maintain a minimum 95% attendance rate starting December 2, 2013 through April 11, 2014.  We are only monitoring unexcused absences and unexcused partial absences.
Senior Updates

If you attended either Tarver Elementary or Hunters Glen Elementary, you should check out the scholarships that both of their Parent/Teacher Organizations are offering! The Tarver deadline is March 28 and Hunters Glen's deadline is April 9. More information is available on NAVIANCE or on the Counseling Office bulletin board.

It's time to get serious.  In addition to making the grade to graduate you need to pay all fees and fines by May 1. You will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony or receive your diploma if you have a balance due to the District.  Please check your Infinite Campus account and pay the balance due via the Pay-For-It system.   You also have the option to pay fees at the Bookkeeping office.  The Senior fine list is posted outside the Bookkeeping Office and is updated regularly.

Please send pictures for the Senior Slideshow to Mrs. Graf at Sarah.graf@adams12.org.

All scholarship offers should be reported to Ms. Jones in the Main Office by April 4th in order for them to be recognized at the Senior dinner on the 28th of April and to be acknowledged in the graduation program.

Counseling News

Students and Parents:  Would you like the chance to make a life-long friend from another country? Would you like the opportunity to experience another culture while in the comfort of your own home? Maybe you can do both by hosting a foreign exchange student in your home during the next school year!! There are dozens of foreign exchange students from all around the world who are waiting for a chance to study for a year in the USA. All they need is a family to stay with -- maybe a family just like yours! If you are interested in learning more, contact Ms. Blue in Horizon's Counseling Office. She can put you in contact with one of our area's foreign exchange program representatives.

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  BACKPACKS TO BRIEFCASES is a FREE event for Adams County students.  During a professional luncheon, you will learn cell phone etiquette, how to dress for interviews even on a tight budget, how to make "small talk" at a business luncheon . . . and even which fork to use at fancy dinners!  Space is limited, so grab your friends and register online or in the counseling office before March 17!  Horizon upperclassmen have totally enjoyed this fun event in past years!

The RMASS “Zapping the ACT” prep seminar will be coming to Horizon on April 2nd & 3rd. For an opportunity to participate in this awesome two-day after school seminar, you must see Mrs. Bell or Mr. Muedeking in the counseling office to sign up for a spot. The cost of this two-day seminar is usually $89 – but Ms. Smiley will be paying $50 of the $89 for the first 100 students who sign up – so it will cost you only $39. Don’t pass up this great opportunity to get “prepped” for the ACT Test coming in April. Any questions on this ACT Prep opportunity – see Mr. Muedeking in the counseling office.
