Horizon High School has once again implemented an attendance policy for students, grades 9-12 to be able to attend prom. However, 9th & 10th grade students MUST be invited by an upperclassman in order to attend prom. All Students wishing to attend prom are expected to maintain a minimum 95% attendance rate starting December 2, 2013 through April 11, 2014. We are only monitoring unexcused absences and unexcused partial absences.

The RMASS “Zapping the ACT” prep seminar will be coming to Horizon on April 2nd & 3rd. For an opportunity to participate in this awesome two-day after school seminar, you must see Mrs. Bell or Mr. Muedeking in the counseling office to sign up for a spot. The cost of this two-day seminar is usually $89 – but Ms. Smiley will be paying $50 of the $89 for the first 100 students who sign up – so it will cost you only $39. Don’t pass up this great opportunity to get “prepped” for the ACT Test coming in April. Any questions on this ACT Prep opportunity – see Mr. Muedeking in the counseling office.

Maybe you can do both by hosting a foreign exchange student in your home during the next school year!! There are dozens of foreign exchange students from all around the world who are waiting for a chance to study for a year in the USA. All they need is a family to stay with -- maybe a family just like yours! If you are interested in learning more, contact Ms. Blue in Horizon's Counseling Office. She can put you in contact with one of our area's foreign exchange program representatives.
Are you looking for a summer job? The Governor's Summer Job Hunt is right around the corner. This year you can pick from two different options. On February 26th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. you can attend the Youth Job Fair at the Adams County Regional Park. This option is for youth ages 16-21 years of age. On February 27th and 28th you can attend the Virtual Job Fair. This option is for youth 14-21 years of age. All youth must pre-register on www.connectingcolorado.com. Congratulations to the Wrestling team as they placed 5th overall at Regionals. The state qualifiers are Jackson Huffman 1st place, Aaron Beltran 3rd place, Matt Emerson 3rd place, and Hunter Lucas 4th place. Other placers were Xavier Boccadoro 5th place, Angelo Arellano 6th place, Brian Janoushek 6thplace, and Michael Herman 6th place. Congratulations and good luck at state.
If you are interested in diving you must be signed up with the school. Practice officially starts Monday Feb. 24 at 3:30. No experience needed. Prairie View High School Boys Lacrosse is recruiting JV and Varsity Players for the 2014 Spring Season. Skills and Conditioning are every Monday,Wednesday & Friday at 4:30 at the Prairie View field (weather permitting) Feb. 17th – 21st Skills & Conditioning camp, Feb. 24th – 1st day of practice/Try outs, March 1st – Scrimmage Tournament in Colorado Springs.
