Announcements: Tuesday, 02-25-2014

There will be no breakfast service next week: March 4th, 6th and 7th due to TCAP testing. There will be one lunch service on these days corresponding with the testing schedule. Monday and Wednesday are normal school days and the kitchen will operate accordingly. We all wish you the very best throughout the testing process.

Horizon High School has once again implemented an attendance policy for students, grades 9-12 to be able to attend prom.  However, 9th & 10th grade students MUST be invited by an upperclassman in order to attend prom.  All Students wishing to attend prom are expected to maintain a minimum 95% attendance rate starting December 2, 2013 through April 11, 2014.  We are only monitoring unexcused absences and unexcused partial absences. 

Senior Updates

Friday, February 28th is Cap & Gown picture day in the Student Center on the stage from 7:00-3:00.  Caps & gowns will be provided for you.  Order forms can be picked up in the Main Office.   Check out more Senior updates on Horizons website under Horizon Senior Page.

It's time to get serious.  In addition to making the grade to graduate you need to pay all fees and fines by May 1. You will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony or receive your diploma if you have a balance due to the District.  Please check your Infinite Campus account and pay the balance due via the Pay-For-It system.   You also have the option to pay fees at the Bookkeeping office.

Counseling News

The RMASS “Zapping the ACT” prep seminar will be coming to Horizon on April 2nd & 3rd. For an opportunity to participate in this awesome two-day after school seminar, you must see Mrs. Bell or Mr. Muedeking in the counseling office to sign up for a spot. The cost of this two-day seminar is usually $89 – but Ms. Smiley will be paying $50 of the $89 for the first 100 students who sign up – so it will cost you only $39. Don’t pass up this great opportunity to get “prepped” for the ACT Test coming in April. Any questions on this ACT Prep opportunity – see Mr. Muedeking in the counseling office.

Are you looking for a summer job?  The Governor's Summer Job Hunt is right around the corner.  This year you can pick from two different options. This Wednesday, February 26th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. you can attend the Youth Job Fair at the Adams County Regional Park. This option is for youth ages 16-21 years of age. On February 27th and 28th you can attend the Virtual Job Fair.  This option is for youth 14-21 years of age.  All youth must pre-register on www.connectingcolorado.com.  Please call 720-523-6964 for registration assistance.

Congratulations to Michael Skinner, Mateo Ramos and Josh Ralphs for being selected to the Front Range League All Conference Basketball team. The boy's will host the George Washington Patriots in the first round of the state playoffs on Wednesday night at 6:30.  Cost is $5 for students and Senior Citizens and $6 for adults.  Only CHSAA card holders are permitted in for free at playoff games.  Activity passes are not permitted.  LET"S PACK THE NEST!!! GO HAWKS!!!

Girls Basketball this Friday, first round of playoffs.  Time and team to be determined.
